Nature Walk Reimagined
Location
Brooklyn, NY
Date
Spring 2025
Course
ARCH 102, Design I SP25
This project reimagines a nature walk at Newtown Creek as a sound oasis. The design introduces elongated steel structures that allow water to flow over them, creating sheltered spaces beneath where visitors can pause within a controlled acoustic environment.
The surrounding landscape incorporates a series of pipes that produce tonal variations as water moves across and through them, transforming the natural flow of the site into an audible experience.
The concept originated from a rule-based drawing generated by translating recorded site sounds into digital rhythms and two-dimensional sound waves. These abstract patterns were then transformed into spatial forms, creating an occupiable environment for people, plants, and water.
